	Steven A. Hunter Hope Scholarship Fund Scholarship Criteria: Graduating senior from Portsmouth High School, Scioto County, Ohio Enrolled at Shawnee State University Preference is given to those who display financial need Less than $45,000 This fund originally housed at the Portsmouth City Schools Foundation has been established at the Scioto Foundation in memory of Steven A. Hunter, by his parents, brother and other community members who knew and loved him. The fund’s primary purpose is to provide financial assistance to students at Portsmouth High School needing help with college tuition, books and fees. Hunter was a 2003 graduate of Portsmouth High School where he was involved in almost every facet of student life. He was a member of the National Honors Society and graduated in the top tenth percent of his class. Hunter achieved numerous academic and sporting awards and was a class officer all four years of high school. Hunter was well remembered by all as the PHS mascot “Captain Trojan.” Hunter attending Milligan College, a four-year Christian liberal arts college located in Northeast Tennessee. At Milligan, Hunter majored in history and was pursing a minor in legal studies. He had aspirations of one day becoming an attorney. He was also a member of Milligan’s tennis team, a good student, devout Christian, avid outdoorsman. According to his father, Mark Hunter, “Steven was extremely passionate about his beliefs, including the premise that we are responsible to help those in need. His example has inspired all who knew him and loved him to undertake this responsibility.
